Gurdaspur, Sept 26: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) successfully organized a Manak Manthan session on the subject of Cast Iron Product Quality Control Orders (QCOs) at Wonder Hotel Batala, Gurdaspur on Thursday. The event saw participation from several industries, District Industries Centre Batala, IMTT Batala, engineers and other stakeholders.
Niraj Kumar Mishra, Deputy Director, BIS Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO), led the session with a comprehensive presentation on the technical requirements on Indian Standards for Grey Iron casting as per IS 210. He elaborated on the key provisions within the standard, providing insights on the product manual, specifications, and their significance in ensuring product quality.
Hitesh Yadav informed the participants on the BIS certification process, explaining the step-by-step procedure to obtain a BIS licence, ensuring compliance with the quality standards laid out by BIS.
Additionally, Tilak Raj, Director & Head of the event, facilitated the interaction between BIS and the industry association, ensuring seamless communication and cooperation to support industries in adhering to the mandated quality standards.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where participants addressed queries related to standardization, compliance, and the BIS licensing process. The initiative reinforced BIS’s commitment to raising awareness among stakeholders about the significance of adhering to national standards to promote safety, quality, and consumer trust.
