Srinagar, Dec 08: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch had done surprise checks of the jewelers at Srinagar especially at LAL Chowk and Downtown area on Friday.
During the surprise check number of anomalies had been observed some of them are selling Gold Jewellery without Hallmark mandatory HUID numbers, selling old Hallmark Jewellery, selling Fake HUID Jewellery etc. However as per the Orders enforced on Srinagar district for Mandatory Hallmark and selling only HUID mark Jewellery. Three mandatory marks shall be available for the Jewellery via BIS logo, purity like 916 (22K) or 750 (18K), and HUID (unique no.)
All public of Jammu and Kashmir are hereby requested to check these marks and check HUID numbers on BIS Care App (available on Android as well as IOS). Any discrepancy observed all are requested to send the formal complaints at BIS Care App or at [email protected] or [email protected].
Further customers are requested to obtain the purchase original bill with HUID number on purchase of Gold Jewellery for redressal, if any.
Jewellers of the Jammu and Kashmir where Hallmark is Mandatory is advised to do away such kind of practices otherwise actions as per BIS Act 2016 will be initiated. It is worth to mention that any Jewellery available at jewellers without genuine HUID mark or not complying QCO orders liable to be seized and penalty of minimum 1 lac may be imposed by BIS or Court of Law as the case may be.
