Siachen, Oct 13: In a remarkable feat of endurance and determination, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) bike rally successfully reached the Siachen Base Camp, marking a significant step of its inspiring journey that began from Srinagar. As part of the celebrations for World Standards Day 2024, officials from BIS Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO) and other BIS officials crossed treacherous mountain ranges and reached one of the highest battlefields in the world to promote awareness about standards and their significance.
Starting from Hunder, Leh, the bikers faced challenging terrains, including crossing sand dunes and steep mountain passes, as they journeyed to Siachen. Along the way, they engaged with local communities, educating them about BIS, its vital role in ensuring quality and safety, and the importance of standards in everyday products. The team raised the BIS flag at the base camp, symbolizing the organization’s commitment to promoting quality standards across the country, even in the most remote and challenging regions.
This momentous rally, an integral part of the World Standards Day 2024 celebrations, emphasizes the relevance of standards in driving sustainable development and ensuring the well-being of society. By reaching the Siachen Base Camp, the BIS bike rally not only celebrated this important day but also successfully conveyed the message of quality and safety to areas often left out of the mainstream awareness campaigns.
The rally’s completion at such great heights stands as a testament to BIS’s dedication to its mission and the incredible resilience of the officials who undertook this journey.
