Kulgam, Sep 04: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat on Monday said the aim of observing ‘Bhrashtachar Mukt Week’ is to eradicate corruption and promote transparent and accountable governance. He said there are more than 1000 services available online in the UT and all services of the revenue department are also available online.
The DC kick-started the week-long Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K campaign in the district by inaugurating a special camp organized by the Revenue Department Kulgam at the new conference hall of the mini-secretariat, here. During the programme, through a powerpoint presentation participants were briefed about various online services of the revenue department.
He said the online shift of services has paved the way for transparent, accountable and accessible government-to-citizen transactions, where people need not visit offices physically anymore, and has been cost-effective for the people, he added.
The online mode of services has also ensured time-bound issuance of certificates, documents, and other services to the applicants/people and has infused a new vibrancy and accountability in the system, he said. ADC, Viqar Ahmad Giri while speaking on the occasion said, “Corruption is multidimensional and we need to eliminate all forms of corruption from the system. Digitization of revenue records is a revolutionary step.”
The ACR Kulgam during the programme briefed the participants about the online services of the revenue department. He said all 23 services of the department are available online.
He said the revenue department has issued more than 1.25 lakh certificates through online mode and the online services have made the system prompt, accountable and transparent. “Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars in the district shall conduct special camps (village wise) in the district under Bhrashtachar Mukt programme with the aim to eradicate corruption, promote transparent and accountable governance and provide hassle-free service delivery to the general public,” he added.
During these camps, awareness about the online services offered by the revenue department will be shared, complaints/grievances will be considered and disposed-off on land-related matters, pending applications, particularly nearing PSGA timeline and a focus on attestation of all pending mutations, issuance of certificates, revenue extracts and demarcations etc will be priority during these camps added ACR.
On the occasion, the ACD briefed that the week-long campaign will witness a series of awareness events across the district with a focus on the promotion of transparent and accountable governance.
Special Gram Sabhas and meetings with key stakeholders, including Self-Help Groups (SHGs), MGNREGA workers, farmers, students, and citizens, have been devised to spread mass awareness about the significance of corruption-free governance. These meetings will also serve as platforms to discuss and combat corruption at the grassroots level.
Under the Bhrashtachar Mukt Week, camps were also held at Sub Division D H Pora, Tehsils and Nayabats and other departments also organised programmes to observe Bhrashtachar Mukt Week.
