Jammu, July 19: Hundreds of Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) activists led by its state president and former minister Harsh Dev Singh held a massive protest here and took out a procession up to SSP Office Jammu seeking immediate arrest of the notorious elements who had “burnt party founder Prof. Bhim Singh’s hut at Sidhra, usurped his land and siphoned money from Jay Mala’s bank accounts”.
According to a party statement issued here, the protestors, raising slogans of “Bhim Singh ki property lootne walon ko giraftaar karo, giraftaar karo”, “Jay Mala ke Bank account se paise gaban karne walon ko giraftaar karo, giraftaar karo”, “Mala ki Hatya mein zimmedar sazish karne walon ko giraftaar karo, giraftaar karo”, etc, reached the office of SSP Jammu and submitted two different memorandums seeking high-level probe into the mysterious death of Jay Mala and usurpation of the properties of Ankit Love’s father and mother by the culprits enjoying the support of a BJP leader. The protestors later addressed the media outside the police headquarters.
Speaking on the occasion, Harsh Dev said that Prof. Bhim Singh had a strip of land in Sidhra measuring one kanal on which he had constructed a hut after availing loan from Legislative Council in 2003-04. “The hut was set on fire by certain vested interests who further usurped the land on which the said hut had been constructed. Not only that, the vested interests had further broken open the locks of Bhim Singh’s building at Rajinder Bazar, trespassed into the same, destroyed some important documents and locked the said building. But despite the matter having been reported to the police, no action had been taken to arrest the said criminals,” he alleged.
“Not only was Prof. Bhim Singh’s property looted by opportunist and criminal-minded relatives but his mother Jay Mala’s bank accounts were also looted by the very same criminals in collusion,” said Ankit Love. He said that money was withdrawn from Mala’s account five times in less than two months. “It was bizarre that money was withdrawn from Mala’s bank accounts twice even on the day she collapsed. But still, no enquiry was held due to patronage of a BJP leader enjoyed by the criminal elements,” he alleged.
“The most interesting part of the entire gamut was that Ankit Love was being asked to pay the principal as well as interest on a loan obtained by his father Bhim Singh from the Legislative Council for construction of the hut/house in Sidhra despite the said properties having been usurped by offenders,” Harsh Dev said. He urged the SSP to take immediate action to arrest the criminals along with those conniving with them and patronizing them.
