Jammu, Feb 23: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Working President, Raman Bhalla, has urged the Election Commission of India to conduct simultaneous Legislative Assembly and Parliamentary elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He made this demand while addressing the aggrieved people of RS Pura Jammu South constituency, highlighting the gap of five years without an elected government in the region.
Criticizing the BJP-led administration, Bhalla pointed out that Jammu and Kashmir now has the highest percentage of educated unemployed youth among all states and Union Territories, attributing this to the BJP’s policies. He said every section of society is facing hardships due to unemployment, inflation, and rising prices of essential commodities.
“Except hoodwinking the gullible masses by raking up emotive issues, the BJP has done nothing to solve basic problems of the people,” he said.
The Congress leader criticized the BJP for failing to address the basic problems faced by the people and instead diverting attention through emotive issues.
Asserting Congress’s commitment to protecting the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Bhalla stated that the party stands as a beacon of hope amid the prevailing uncertainty in the region.
“In the prevailing uncertainty in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress stands as a beacon of hope, with its leadership dedicated to bringing about a positive change here. Unlike other political parties, we do not aspire to attain power just to rule but to serve the people. We stand in support of the people of Jammu and Kashmir like a rock, as our mission is to protect their rights and ensure their prosperity and well-being,” he said and urged party workers to strengthen the organizational setup and involve the younger generation in party ranks.
He outlined Congress’s vision for a prosperous future in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the importance of permanent peace in the region. He cautioned people against falling for deceptive slogans of political parties and highlighted the need for credible leadership to address the pressing issues faced by the populace.
Expressing concern over the delay in holding assembly elections, Raman criticized the BJP-led administration for its reluctance to establish a democratically-elected government in Jammu and Kashmir. He underscored the importance of strengthening democratic institutions and restoring faith in electoral processes.
