Budgam, Apr 04: The people from various villages of the Beerwah tehsil in central Kashmir’s Budgam district have urged the power department to provide proper electricity in this holy month of Ramadan, saying they are receiving unscheduled power cuts, especially during the Sehri and Iftari times.
Zameer Ahmad Khan, a resident of Chewdara village, told Rising Kashmir that they are facing a lot of difficulties in this holy month as the power department is not providing electricity on time. “We have Sehri and Iftari in darkness. This is unfortunate,” he said, adding that there should be no power cuts during night hours in this holy month.
Shabir Ahmad, from Beerwah, said that for the last few days, the department has started unscheduled power cuts. “Since the beginning of the month of Ramadan, the electricity schedule has been badly affected,” he said.
The electricity situation in various villages of the Beerwah tehsil is getting worse day by day due to unscheduled power cuts, causing a lot of difficulties for people, Ahmad said.
The residents said the government must ensure proper electricity supply to the people, especially in the ongoing holy month.
An official from the Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL) sub-division Beerwah said he would look into the matter and take necessary steps in this regard.
