Baramulla, Oct 16: The residents of Khawaja Bagh in north Kashmir’s Baramulla have urged the district administration to address the longstanding problem of unmanaged parking which they said is causing significant inconvenience to them.
Expressing their frustration, the residents said that despite years of raising the issue, authorities have yet to take decisive action. The problem primarily stems from commuters parking their vehicles haphazardly in the lanes and bylanes, obstructing the smooth passage of other vehicles, they said.
Abdul Rashid, a local resident, highlighted the difficulties faced by others due to cars parked on the roads, leading to scratches or substantial damage to other vehicles.
Abdul Hamid, a resident of Hyder Colony in Khawaja Bagh Baramulla, said confrontations arise when people are asked to park where there is sufficient space. He said the concerned department should address this issue.
Locals further revealed that the problem has escalated to the point where school bus services are hesitant to enter the locality. Consequently, children have to cover significant distances on foot to access the lanes or bylanes, they said.
Mudassir Ahmad, a school bus driver, shared the challenges of navigating narrow lanes with parked cars. I face difficulties in timely student drop-offs when cars obstruct the route, he said.
The residents of Khawaja Bagh have appealed to Deputy Commissioner Baramulla to intervene urgently and find a suitable resolution for the persistent parking problem.
