Srinagar, Feb 01: Two more persons succumbed to injuries in Uri Road accident, taking the death count to 10, while the condition of 5 injured is stable and out of danger, officials said.
Principal GMC Baramulla, Dr Ruby said that two more injured persons succumbed to their injuries late Wednesday night. She said that they were referred to SKIMS Soura last night, where they succumbed to their injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Shabir Ahmed son of Abdul Gani and Shabir Ahmed son of Mohammed Abdullah–both residents of Bujithallan.
A health official at SKIMS told Rising Kashmir that out of 5 injured that have been referred here, driver of the vehicle is still in the coma condition and specialized treatment is being provided to the injured.
Earlier on Wednesday, 8 passengers died while seven others were injured after a passenger vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge at Bujthalan Tatmulla Uri area of Baramulla.
Lieutenant Governor, Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the tragic accidents in Baramulla & Kishtwar.
He also announced ex-gratia for the deceased and injured in the incident.
“Ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to be given to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives in the tragedies. The injured would be given Rs. 1 lakh. Directed the district administrations to provide all possible assistance to the families expeditiously,” he said in a post on X.
