Srinagar, June 01: Scores of class IV employees from the PHE Jal Shakti department in the Baramulla district have appealed to the administration to address the issue of their pending salaries.
The employees claimed that they have not received their salaries for the past three years since they were recruited.
According to the employees, approximately 38 individuals were appointed under the PHE Jal Shakti department, as per Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Order No. DCB/PS/23/2020, dated 17/12/2020. They expressed distress over the “unexplained delay” in salary disbursement, which they said has resulted in severe financial hardships for them.
“Despite our unwavering dedication, commitment, and diligent fulfillment of their professional responsibilities, we have been deprived of our rightful salaries,” they said.
One employee, wishing anonymity, said the prolonged non-payment of salaries has pushed them to the brink of despair and desperation.
“The repercussions of this salary non-disbursement extend beyond the financial aspect. Mounting debts and financial obligations have become overwhelming, preventing us from affording essential medical expenses and compromising the health and well-being of our family members,” he said.
The disruption of our daily livelihood and the strain on our quality of life has taken a toll on our mental and emotional state, said another employee. “The constant worry about providing for our family and meeting basic needs has caused significant distress, leading to strained relationships and familial discord,” he said.
In light of these circumstances, the employees have appealed to the LG-led administration to intervene and direct the concerned department to release their pending salaries.
