Bandipora photographer on a mission to preserve ‘special memories’

A civil engineer by profession and photographer by passion, Abid Wani is on a mission to preserve special memories by his unique photography skills. 
The Bandipora resident is attracting young couples to opt for cinematic wedding photo shoots and is getting an overwhelming response for his work. Wani is also an energetic content creator and a passionate traveler.
After completing his basic education from Bandipora, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Punjab Technical Board and is currently pursuing an online Diploma in Photography from Michigan State University. 
Wani was interested in photography since his childhood. He has been shooting weddings for the past 6 years and has opened his venture ‘AW films wedding photography’.
“We believe in quality rather than quantity therefore we take limited projects at a time. We have got an encouraging response from people,” he said.
The 26-year-old said wedding photography is gaining popularity in Kashmir and there is a good scope to explore the trends.
Apart from wedding shoots, he also shoots pre-weddings and advertisements. He said photography is a skill which needs constant upgradation in terms of new technology.
“Initially, I felt that there is limited scope in photography for career, but fortunately, I have found a lot of acceptance and love,” Wani said adding that in Kashmir weddings go on in every situation.
“We capture the essence of our client’s big day and document our traditions in an authentic and cinematic way. I want to contribute and fill the gap by tutoring and mentoring the beginners,” he said.
About budding photographers, Wani said although there is no dearth of talent in Kashmir and there is a need to polish their ideas.
His YouTube channel ‘Abid Wani’ has 17k subscribers and mostly features vlogs in which he uploads videos of green and sprawling landscapes attracting much public attention. 
From Gurez to Manali, he continuously explores unknown destinations and plans to visit more in the future.
Wani is also the owner of a reputed music label and brand, Kash Graph. He is also co-founder of Team MAD which is a charitable group that helps needy people by fundraising.
He has done lot of music videos which are present on official music channel of Kash Graph that has 106K followers on his Youtube and 2.5K on Facebook and thousands of followers on other platforms.
