Bandipora, Nov 14: Suhail Rather, a young journalist from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district has been instrumental in arranging blood for needy patients across the district.
Hailing from Gamroo village of Bandipora, Suhail has arranged blood for thousands of needy patients.
“I manage several WhatsApp groups with thousands of blood donors and with their help; the needy patients receive blood within no time,” Suhail told Rising Kashmir.
“I motivate people to donate blood. I gather data of frequent blood donors, put up requests from people looking for donors on social media platforms, and ask my friends to share their blood groups and phone numbers so that I could call them when needed,” he explained.
Suhail also has a “data bank” with contact details of over a thousand frequent donors which he has collected from various social media platforms.
Whenever he gets a request, Suhail posts the requirement on his Facebook and Twitter handles. “90 percent of the requests are fulfilled online,” he said.
Suhail said he also gets contact requests from other individuals and organizations which are helping patients in arranging blood.
