Srinagar, Nov 07: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have arrested two hybrid terrorists who were involved in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast incident along the Sopore-Bandipora highway on October 15th.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar in a tweet said, “Sopore Police has cracked the recent IED blast incident at Kenusa Bandipora. 02 hybrid terrorists namely Irshad Ganaie @Shahid and Waseem Raja of Kenusa Bandipora arrested. 02 remote-controlled IEDs with detonators recovered. Case registered & investigation going on.”
Addressing the presser in Sopore, SSP Shabir Nawab said following specific inputs about suspicious movement in the area, around 10:30 am on Monday, they apprehended one hybrid terrorist of LeT ‘Irshad Ahmad Ganaie resident of Kenusa Bandipora.
“Two remote-controlled IEDs with detonators were recovered from his possession. During questioning, Ganaie revealed the name of his associate Waseem Raja, a native of the same village. After investigation, we came to know that both were involved in Bandipora IED blast aimed to target Army convoy on October 15th,” he said.
SSP Nawab said Police have registered an FIR in this case and more investigation is underway.
Earlier on October 15th, Security forces averted a major tragedy by detecting and destroying an 18-kilogram improvised explosive device (IED) along the Bandipora-Sopore road in north Kashmir.
