Srinagar, Jan 21: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has granted the virtual National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) certification to AAM Sub Health Centre in Nesbal, Bandipora district, recognising its commitment to healthcare excellence.

“I congratulate you and the state team for taking up one public health facility in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir, for the virtual assessment under National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification,” read the certification issued by the National Health Systems Resources Centre (NHSRC), Ministry of Health.

The health facility underwent the virtual assessment by the NHSRC empanelled NQAS assessors on December 28, 2024, and found seven mandatory service packages with an overall score of 84 percent making it quality-certified.

“Hence, the above-mentioned Ayushman Arogya Mandir-Sub Health Centre (AAM-SHC) in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir is granted quality certification under NQAS certification,” it said.

The certification said that the certified health facility should strive to work on recommended areas of improvement and submit the action plan to the State Quality Assurance Unit.

The State Quality Assurance Unit is expected to verify the improvement in the surveillance audits and submit the status to the certification Unit NHSRC along with the surveillance reports.

Health officials said this recognition highlights the district’s commitment to quality healthcare standards, ensuring improved health services for the community.

District Hospital B’pora saves mother & baby in rare uterine condition LSCS surgery

In an extraordinary medical feat, District Hospital Bandipora has successfully conducted a complex Lower Segment Caesarean Section (LSCS) on a patient with uterus didelphys, a rare and challenging uterine anomaly.

This unprecedented procedure, complicated further by the patient’s history of a previous LSCS, marks a significant milestone for the hospital and the community it serves. Under the leadership of Dr. Masrat Iqbal, the medical superintendent, the medical team displayed exceptional skill and coordination in ensuring the safety of both the mother and her baby.

The team included Dr. Yasmeen Gul, consultant gynaecologist; Dr. Saleem Altaf, consultant anaesthetist; Dr. Firdous Ahmad, DGO; and Hilal Ahmad, OT technician.

Dr. Iqbal praised the team for their unwavering dedication and expertise in handling the high-risk surgery. “This achievement highlights our commitment to providing top-tier healthcare and pushing the boundaries of what we can accomplish for our community,” said Dr. Iqbal.

“Saving both lives in such a complex case is a testament to the exceptional capabilities of our medical professionals.”This remarkable success not only sets a new benchmark for healthcare in Bandipora but also brings hope and pride to the region, reinforcing the hospital’s position as a leader in advanced medical care.
