The Bandipora district administration on Friday announced that restricted traffic will be allowed to move on Gurez road on Saturday. The road remained closed for more than a week after remaining open for only a day earlier owing to snowfall.

According to the advisory, Drivers moving from Kanzalwan to Bandipora have been asked to ensure their
Vehicles are equipped with anti-skid chains as only those vehicles will be permitted to embark on the journey towards Bandipora.

“However, clearance will be subject to confirmation of road status by dedicated teams from the Border Roads Organization (BRO)”.

The permissible window for travel is set from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM.

Similarly for vehicles moving from Bandipora to Gurez, Drivers have been asked to ensure their vehicles with anti-skid chains will be granted access from Tragbal towards Gurez.

The designated timeframe for this leg of the journey is from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM.

“These measures are enacted to mitigate risks associated with adverse road conditions, particularly in regions prone to inclement weather and challenging terrain”.

The administration emphasized strict adherence to the stipulated timings and requirements to ensure the safety of commuters and the efficient operation of transportation services along the Bandipora-Gurez corridor.

The advisory urged travellers to stay updated with further advisories and to exercise caution while navigating through the specified route. (KNS)
