New Delhi, Nov 18: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today graced the Jammu Kashmir Union Territory Day celebration at the 42nd India International Trade Fair 2023, held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Addressing the gathering , the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha lauded the marketing efforts of the India Trade Promotion Organisation in bringing together a diverse array of participants, including exhibitors, buyers, sellers, distributors, customers, small and medium enterprises, entrepreneurs, and artisans, under a single platform.
He commended the theme of the India International Trade Fair (IITF) this year, “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam-United by trade,” highlighting its role in providing an ideal platform to showcase cutting-edge technologies, ground breaking innovations, and an extensive range of creative products.
“The J&K Pavilion at IITF has garnered an overwhelming response from both domestic and international buyers. It has emerged as the most effective instrument for promoting the immense market potential of J&K UT and fostering and strengthening trade ties,” remarked the Lieutenant Governor.
Sharing insights into J&K’s journey over the past few years, the Lieutenant Governor emphasised the UT’s rapid transformation and underscored that the ongoing changes across diverse sectors have empowered entrepreneurs to pursue new goals and tap into international markets with renewed vigour.
“Badalta Jammu and Kashmir is not merely a slogan; it embodies the renewed aspirations and hopes of our entrepreneurs, the business community, artisans, and the revival of our rich cultural heritage. I extend a warm invitation to business leaders and potential investors to explore the investment opportunities in J&K,” stated the Lieutenant Governor.
He emphasised the ongoing efforts to provide J&K’s handloom, handicraft, and agro sectors with access to the global market. The introduction of the new handloom and handicraft policy, along with other interventions, has brought about positive changes in the lives of artisans and skilled workers, he added.
The Lieutenant Governor also shed light on the UT Administration’s key initiatives aimed at providing ample opportunities for women entrepreneurs and artisans to showcase their skills and contribute significantly to the local economy.
At the India International Trade Fair, the Lieutenant Governor visited the J&K Pavilion and engaged in meaningful interactions with exhibitors, entrepreneurs, and artisans from Jammu Kashmir.
He highlighted the must-visit nature of the stalls showcasing products from J&K at the Trade Fair. “J&K is among the focus states/UTs this year, and over 122 exhibitors from the Union Territory are presenting their unique handicraft, handloom, and agro-based products. Visitors and buyers have the opportunity to experience the creativity of J&K’s craftspeople, weavers, and a diverse range of agricultural products,” the Lieutenant Governor added. A grand cultural programme was also organised to commemorate the occasion.
Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary; Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department; Khalid Jahangir, Managing Director JKTPO; officers of the J&K Government and India Trade Promotion Organisation; and members of the business and trade fraternity were present at the event.
