Ayeera Chishti to represent India in Jr World Wushu C’ship in Indonesia

Srinagar, Oct 28: International gold medalist in Wushu Ayeera Chishti once again have been selected for representing India in Junior World Wushu championship scheduled to be held in Indonesia from 3rd to 11th December 2022.

According to Ayeera’s coach, Asif Hussain, she is the first girl from Kashmir who got selected in Junior World Wushu championship in the recently held trails in Meerat UP from 25th to 26th October.

Chisti participated in 48 kg weight category and qualified for the World junior championship by winning three fights against athletes from Haryana, Delhi, UP respectively in selection trials conducted by Wushu Association of India Meerat UP.

17 year old Ayeera fought very technical with

five times gold medalist a Haryana girl in her category and beat her in 3rd round.

Hailing from Tawheedabad, Bemina Srinagar, Ayeera is currently 11th class student in Amira Kadal Higher Scondary School.

The young Ayeera also brought laurels to country and recently bagged gold medal in Wushu International Championship held in Georgia.

Ayeera told Rising Kashmir that she is very happy for getting selected for upcoming junior Wushu World Championship.

” I worked really hard for these trails while facing many hurdles and hindrances, but I never quit, instead, kept pushing harder and harder towards my goal,” she asserted.

“My parents and coach Asif Hussain always motivated me. That was my goal and my dream seems to come true. Gratitude to Almighty and all my well wishers,” she said.

Talking to Rising Kashmir Ayeera’s Coach Asif Hussain said that Ayeera is the first girl from J&K who achieved this feat.

“We had worked really hard for this event. It’s not only her dream but even my dream to see my trainee athlete winning medals for country in Junior World championship.” he said, and added, “We are really thankful to Wushu Association of India for supporting our athletes throughout India and extended our gratitude to Dranacharya awardee Kuldeep Handoo for supporting athletes in J&K.”
