Ramban, June 22: The Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing, with the support of the district administration Ramban, Sunday organised a one-day awareness workshop on the PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme at Chamalwas- Banihal.
The workshop was held to spread awareness among farmers, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Cooperatives, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and unemployed youth about the benefits of the PMFME scheme. Area Marketing Officer Tehsin Chib and the officers from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry departments, representatives from J&K Bank, NRLM, AGMO Batote Raju Zutshi, GMI Inderjit Singh, and DRP–PMFME provided an in-depth knowledge about the scope of agro entrepreneurship in the rural areas and government incentives available under the scheme.
The Officers explained that the PMFME scheme helps people start food processing businesses by giving financial help, training, and expert support for branding and marketing. “A 35 percent subsidy is available under the scheme, and help is also provided for preparing project reports, getting bank loans, and completing required registrations such as FSSAI and Udyam” they were told.
Prominent Citizens including Munir Ahmed Malik, progressive farmer Zubair Ahmed Sohil, SHG members and local farmers also participated in the event.
The AMO encouraged participants to make use of the scheme and contribute to the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission. The workshop ended with an interactive session where participants asked questions and heard about successful local businesses started under the scheme
