Srinagar, Aug 07: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anantnag, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Kashmir, organized an awareness cum demonstration session on summer pruning in apple orchards.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. S. A. Ganaie, scientist (Agri-Economics) KVK-Anantnag. Dr. Ishtiyaq A. Khan, Head and Scientist of Fruit Science, delivered an insightful talk on the concept of summer pruning.
He elaborated on the benefits and techniques of summer pruning, facilitating a productive discussion with the participants.
Dr. Khan later demonstrated the summer pruning techniques in the field, providing a hands-on learning experience for all attendees.
Mr. Shabbir Ahmad Kutay, Technical cum Innovation Officer at the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) cell JK, Institute of Technology Zakura Campus, University of Kashmir, showcased a variety of innovations incubated and supported by NIF-India and KVK-Anantnag.
His presentation highlighted the significant advancements in agricultural technology, emphasizing the potential impact on local apple orchards. A technology sensitization discussion followed, engaging budding entrepreneurs, progressive orchardists associated with KVK, and officers/officials from the Department of Horticulture.
This interactive session aimed to disseminate grassroots innovations and discuss upcoming technological advancements in the horticulture sector. The event saw participation from various officers of the Department of Horticulture, budding entrepreneurs, innovators, and progressive farmers. T
