Avalanche hits Sonamarg

Ganderbal, Feb 08: An avalanche struck near Sarbal Sonamarg in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday, however no casualties were reported.
According to an official, an avalanche occurred close to Sarbal today, near the workshop of the Zojila Tunnel project.
Authorities from the mega tunnel project reassured that preemptive measures were in place to mitigate any potential risks, ensuring the safety of all personnel involved. Employees working on the project had already been relocated to secure locations prior to the incident.
In light of the recent event, the Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority has issued warnings regarding the heightened risk of avalanches across the Union Territory. Vigilance and precautionary measures remain paramount as the region navigates through the winter season.
