An avalanche on Saturday afternoon hit Journiyal village of gurez valley in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
An official told Rising Kashmir that avalanche hit the higher reaches of the Journiyal village of gurez however no loss of life or damage has been reported in the incident.
He said that advisory was already issued to residents of gurez valley not to venture out.
He said that area has been closed for the time being as a precautionary measure and the residents have been advised to stay indoors and not to venture out unnecessarily.
The team has been alerted and they are assessing the situation, he said adding that further details shall follow.
Earlier, the State Disaster Management Authority issued a ‘high danger’ avalanche warning for the Bandipora and Kupwara districts of north Kashmir and a ‘medium danger’ warning for the Baramulla and Ganderbal districts.
