Avail benefits of job-oriented schemes: Dr Owais to youth

Bandipora, March 20: In a youth interaction on Monday, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad stressed on parental care, motivation and proper exposure to career opportunities for excelling in different fields. He said the district administration is always looking forward to the guidance and successful future of students.
The youth interaction programme was organized by the district administration Bandipora in Dak Bungalow Sumbal. DC Bandipora was the chief guest while Senior Superintendent of Police Bandipora Lakshy Sharma, DPO ICDS Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, Tehsildar Sumbal Zeeshan Tahir, ACP Bandipora Muzaffar Ahmad, SDPO Sumbal Mir Abid, and Project Manager DIC Bandipora Mehraj Wani were present on the occasion.
The programme was attended by a large number of youth including students and members of the youth club. While interacting with the youngsters, Dr Owais said the career counselling sessions on a regular basis act as a boon for the youth who are in career-deciding years and these programmes will continue to be organised for the betterment of the youth.
He said the district administration has launched several programmes for the overall development of the next generation including better education facilities, promotion of sports activities, guidance and career counselling and the handholding for earning livelihood by facilitating to establishment of own income generation units. Such initiatives will continue and urged the youth to avail the benefit of these schemes to stand on their own feet, he said.
The DC also said that drug abuse is a serious problem that affects not only individuals but also families and communities. He emphasised the importance of tackling the issue from multiple perspectives including deterrence, treatment and enforcement. He reiterated that the district administration Bandipora is committed to creating a drug-free environment and will continue to take all necessary steps to achieve this goal.
SSP Bandipora on the occasion stressed involving youth in sports activities so that they can stay away from drug abuse. He called for the complete eradication of harmful drugs from society, saying it starts merely as amusement but in the end ruin innocent lives. He urged the youth to come forward and help police to eradicate this drug menace from society.
Project Officer District Industries Mehraj Wani spoke about government schemes and initiatives to provide job opportunities while Tehsildar Sumbal Zeeshaan Tahir discussed career opportunities, qualifying for prestigious exams, civil service, PSC and UPSC levels.
