Assembly Elections: PM Modi to address mega party rally in Jammu today

Security heightened in Jammu city

Srinagar, Sept 27: Security has been intensified across Jammu City and surrounding areas as a precautionary measure ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit tomorrow. The Prime Minister is scheduled to address a large party rally at MA Stadium, expecting thousands of BJP supporters to attend.
A police officer at the Police Headquarters Jammu stated that security reinforcements have been put in place throughout the city and adjacent areas in preparation for the Prime Minister’s visit. “A high-level meeting regarding PM Modi’s security arrangements was held in Jammu, attended by heads of various agencies. Some SOPs have been formulated for arrangements, and they will be accordingly implemented,” the officer confirmed.
Additional police and paramilitary forces have been deployed at vital spots, including Airport Road to Jewel Chowk. The authorities have established CCTV surveillance, checkpoints, and frisking points to address security concerns effectively. The Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel will monitor the city for any suspicious activities, while J&K Police Commandos, alongside CRPF personnel, are stationed around the MA Stadium to pre-empt any untoward incidents.
BJP’s Senior leader Kavinder Gupta told media persons that thousands of BJP workers are expected to attend the PM Modi rally in Jammu. We have completed all the preparations and arrangements for the mega event,” he said.
“There is excitement among people in Kashmir, where BJP was once unpopular. Now, everyone, including the poor, women, and the elderly, trusts Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he added.
The BJP leader further said that PM Modi will arrive at 11 PM on Saturday and he will be welcomed by party leaders at Jammu Airport.
Meanwhile, Sajid Yousuf Shah State Media Co-Convenor J&K Incharge Media Department, Kashmir said that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Ji will be visiting Gurez and Karnah on 29th September 2024 to address party workers.
“Details regarding the timing and venue will be shared here soon” he said.
To streamline the traffic on Saturday, at M.A. Stadium wherein large gathering is expected to participate in the Rally and in order to ensure smooth flow of traffic inside the Jammu City.
As per the traffic police department, there shall be partial restrictions/diversions on grounds.
“The general public is advised to utilise 4th Tawi Bridge/Gujjar Nagar Bridge/Sidhra Bridge for their movement from North Jurisdiction to South Jurisdiction and Vice-Versa in order reach their destination to avoid inconvenience,” it said.
The traffic spokesman further said that besides this one tube of main Tawi bridge shall also remain open for general public/emergency vehicles.
“General Public who intends to participate in the public rally shall park their personal vehicles in the designated parking slots and avoid wrong parking of their vehicle causing congestion/jamming,” he said.
The third and final phase of polling is set to take place on October 1, with eleven Assembly constituencies in Jammu district going to the polls. The district comprises constituencies such as Bishnah (SC), Suchetgarh (SC), R.S. Pura-Jammu South, Bahu, Jammu East, Nagrota, Jammu West, Jammu North, Marh (SC), Akhnoor (SC), and Chhamb.
The results of the all three phases will be declared on October 08.
