Kulgam, Aug 22: The election department and its teams have removed 238 defacements, including posters, banners, and other materials in Kulgam. The defacements have been removed within 72 hours of the announcement of the assembly elections, in accordance with the norms of the Election Commission of India.
Bilal Kamgar, Deputy District Election Officer (Dy DEO), said that the district has already put in place teams to ensure there are no violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
He said that after the announcement of the 2024 assembly elections by the ECI, teams in the district were deployed, and as many as 238 defacements were removed to ensure ad-herence to the MCC.
“16 instances of wall writing, 26 posters, 16 banners, and 181 other defacements were re-moved in the district, which comprises three assembly constituencies. Fifteen teams were initiated to ensure all defacements are removed as per the guidelines of the ECI,” the Dy DEO said.
He also said that Static Surveillance Teams (SSTs) and Flying Squad Teams (FSTs) are on the ground to ensure proper implementation of the MCC, and that so far, no violations have been recorded in the district.
He further added that as many as 3,28,740 voters will exercise their franchise in the three assembly constituencies of the district, for whom all necessary facilities are in place, and that no violations or undue influence will be allowed during the election period.
