JAMMU, AUG 21: To curb misinformation and ensure the integrity of the upcoming Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Command-and-Control Centres have been set up at the offices of the Chief Electoral Officer in Jammu and Srinagar. Additionally, 24×7 control rooms have been activated in all 20 Deputy Commissioner (DC) offices across the Union Territory.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, these centres will operate around the clock to monitor election-related activities and address any instances of fake news. A statement from the Chief Electoral Officer’s office emphasized that the centres will play a crucial role in maintaining election transparency and prompt action against misinformation.
The Command-and-Control Centres will enhance the electoral process by providing a collaborative workspace to oversee all 90 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir. They will monitor electronic and social media channels, as well as media portals, to prevent the spread of false narratives that could disrupt peace and violate the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
The Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir has urged citizens and political parties to adhere to ECI guidelines to uphold the democratic process. He also encouraged the public to use the C-Vigil app to report MCC violations, with a commitment to address complaints within the ECI’s 100-minute response time.
