Srinagar, Mar 18: The Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden, Asia’s largest tulip garden, nestled between Dal Lake and the Zabarwan hills in Srinagar, is ready to welcome visitors today, March 19.
“This season, the tulip garden will have 16 lakh tulips in bloom,” according to floriculture officials. They have also planted around 68 distinct types of tulips, in addition to a great number of other flowers.
Nearly 25% of the garden is already completely bloomed. Officials believe that if the weather is nice and the temperature stays above 15 degrees Celsius, the Tulips will completely bloom and reflect the grandeur of nature.
They stated that they also prepare crates from greenhouses, which they ensure blossom in greenhouses so that when the doors open, customers are greeted with tulips all around. These pots are used to decorate the entranceway. Over 3000 flower pots are made with a lot of labour for the guests.
The administration has completed all necessary preparations for the inauguration of the tulip garden. Due to the continuous development of smart city projects in the city, traffic route plans have also been developed given the ‘excavation’ of Srinagar at numerous areas.
Last year, the tulip garden was one of the most popular attractions in the Kashmir Valley, which saw a record number of tourists from all over the world for the first time in decades. When the garden was opened in 2007, it drew a record-breaking 3.60 lakh visitors, including foreigners.
The tulip garden has grown in popularity in India. Many people plan vacations to the region around the tulip bloom. The floriculture department has planted new flower kinds such as hyacinths, daffodils, muscari, and cyclamens to make the garden seem more colourful this year.
To lure more people to this region, the department will also conduct a tulip festival in  the first week of April. While Kashmir has had thousands of visitors in the early springs, the government expects a robust tourist footfall this year.
“Visitors will also be able to watch an extended fountain channel during the event,” according to the authorities . The workaround will be completed before the festival begins. Together with tulip bulbs, the festival will include cultural performances and local crafts.
They said that new varieties are introduced here each year. This year, they installed the fountain channel. It should serve as a model of gardening professionalism over the world.
