Srinagar, Apr 25: J&K BJP State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Koul Wednesday lauded the J&K administration for its recent decision to provide free education to children from weaker and disadvantaged sections in private schools.
Earlier in a letter, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has directed all private unaided schools functioning on state land to offer free education to such children under Section 12 (1)C of the Right To Education Act.
Koul said this directive mandates private schools to enroll at least 25 percent of the total strength of class 1st primary or pre-school education with poor students.
He said the J&K administration aims to create an equitable education system that ensures every child has an equal opportunity to learn and grow, regardless of their socio-economic background, and receive education in top-notch private schools in the Valley.
Koul also hailed this move as a game-changer for disadvantaged children in Jammu & Kashmir. He also praised the government for taking bold steps towards building an equitable education system, stating that it will pave the way for a bright future for children in the region.
During his visit to Kashmir, Koul made it a priority to inspect the government’s work on the ground level.
He met with party workers and urged them to work towards the betterment of the people.
Party spokesperson said Koul’s visit was widely appreciated by the people of Kashmir, who supported him in his efforts to improve the situation in the region.
“Koul’s commitment to the people of Jammu & Kashmir was evident throughout his visit, and his actions have shown that he is willing to go above and beyond to ensure that their voices are heard,” the spokesperson added in the statement.
He further emphasized the importance of providing quality education to all children, irrespective of their socio-economic background, and urged the government to take more such bold steps towards creating an equitable society.
He has also urged private schools to embrace this directive with open arms and work towards the betterment of society by providing quality education to all children.
