Srinagar, May 25: J&K Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary (Org) Ashok Koul on Thursday hailed the LG administration officers and jawans of Jammu & Kashmir Police and intelligence agencies for ensuring a smooth and successful G20 Summit.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters here, Koul expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for choosing Kashmir as the venue for the G20 meeting, saying this has put the region in the global spotlight, attracting foreign tourists. He expressed optimism that this international event would significantly boost investments in the region.
“The foreign delegates were delighted to visit various places in Srinagar and thoroughly enjoyed their experiences. The hosting of G20 meetings in Srinagar is expected to provide Kashmir’s tourism sector with a global push, showcasing the rich art, culture, and heritage of the region on a prestigious platform like G20,” he said.
Highlighting the positive impact of the abrogation of Article 370, the BJP leader noted that Jammu and Kashmir had witnessed remarkable growth in tourism, both domestically and internationally. “The region boasts exemplary infrastructure and development while maintaining a peaceful environment. Since the abrogation of Article 370, there have been no incidents of terror, stone pelting, school closures, or internet shutdowns in J&K,” he said. Koul credited these accomplishments to the “historic decision” of abrogating Article 370.
“During the G20 Summit, tourists were observed taking selfies with the foreign guests, who also had the opportunity to experience traditional Kashmiri attire. Additionally, some delegates indulged in a session at the Royal Spring Golf Course, further showcasing the beauty and allure of Kashmir,” he said.
Moreover, Koul assured the public that any issues concerning the people of J&K were taken seriously and would be addressed by the administration. The welfare and concerns of the youth are of utmost importance, and the BJP remains committed to resolving any issues that may arise, he said.
