Jammu, Apr 15: As the summer time has kicked in, many areas of the Jammu city have already been reeling under severe crisis.
Water demand in the old city and the Jammu West Assembly constituency over the past few years have increased manifold but the concerned Jal Shakti Department has failed to come up with any concrete solution with respect to infrastructural development to meet the increasing water demand.
Jammu West is the largest constituency of Jammu region, which is facing the brunt due to water shortage since the past more than 2 weeks. Many areas of old city have also been facing similar water crisis.
It may be mentioned that old Jammu city is densely populated and the water demands there have also increased manifold over the past few years.
“In summers, transformers are overloaded and they get damaged which affects the water supply very badly,” a senior officer of the department, Sanjeev Gupta, informed Rising Kashmir, while adding, “This, however, is a temporary phase and we hope to overcome the problem”.
Most of the areas in Jammu have been getting water supply after 3 to 4 days since the past more than 2 weeks.
