Srinagar, Mar 21: The Indian Army’s Northern Command celebrated the valour and dedication of its gallant soldiers and units at a prestigious Investiture Ceremony held at Prayagraj Military Station, Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, under the Red Eagle Division.
The ceremony aimed to honour individuals for their exceptional bravery, remarkable devotion to duty, and distinguished service to the nation, PRO Defence said in a statement issued here.
“The Northern Command, known as one of the most operationally active and challenging commands of the Indian Army, stands at the forefront of the nation’s efforts to counter serious security challenges and terrorism. Whether in times of peace or during operations, the troops of the Command epitomize the formation’s motto, “Always in Combat”,” he said.
Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VSM, the General Officer Commanding in Chief of the Northern Command, personally felicitated officers and soldiers of the Indian Army with gallantry and distinguished service awards. He conferred GOC-in-C Unit Appreciation to units in recognition of their exceptional professionalism and outstanding achievements.
During the ceremony, a total of 58 awardees, including 45 Sena Medals (Gallantry), three Sena Medals (Distinguished), one Yudh Seva Medal, and nine Vishisht Seva Medals, were honoured with medals. Additionally, 64 units received Unit Citations. The courageous acts and unwavering bravery of each soldier honoured during the event filled the hearts of all attendees with immense pride and gratitude.
General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, congratulated the awardees on their remarkable achievements and encouraged all ranks to continue giving their best in all spheres while upholding the high traditions and values of the Indian Army. He acknowledged the indispensable contribution of the families of the awardees and urged all ranks, ex-servicemen, and their families to recommit themselves to the service of the nation.
Following the ceremony, the Army commander interacted with the award winners and expressed his appreciation for their invaluable contribution to upholding the highest traditions of the Indian Army.
The solemn ceremony was attended by a large number of military personnel, civilian dignitaries, and the proud families of the award winners. It exemplified the nation’s unwavering commitment to honouring and supporting its brave soldiers, reflecting the true spirit of respect and admiration for their sacrifices.
