An army soldier was Thursday killed after his service rifle went off accidentally in Rafiabad area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A police official said that an army trooper identified as Ct. Chander Mohan (28) received a fatal bullet wound when his service rifle went off accidentally while travelling from Chatoosa camp towards Watergam army camp in an army vehicle.
“As per initial reports, the service rifle of the deceased soldier went off accidentally in the moving vehicle resulting in his instant death,” he added.
Police said that the body was handed over to camp authorities after proper medico legal formalities.
