Searches continue in Doda forests for 7th day
Srinagar, July 20: After the recent attacks in different parts of Jammu region, Army is readjusting its deployments in PirPanjal and Chenab regions to thwart attacks on security forces.
A senior Army told Rising Kashmir that the army is readjusting its deployments in the several parts of Jammu region and will take back peak points which have left unattended since 2005.
“We are considering these plans and there will be more deployment of companies in the region. The move is aimed to thwart such attacks in future,” he said, adding that these things have been also discussed with Army Commander.
The official said that they have deployed around 500 Para Special Forces commandos in the area to hunt down the recently infiltrated terrorists from Pakistan who have entered the region to revive terrorism there.
On Saturday, Army Chief Gen UpendraDwivedi reached here to review the security situation at a meeting in Jammu amidst growing terror activities in parts of Jammu region.
Meanwhile, a massive search operation continued on Saturday against holed-up terrorists who fired on a school building and injured two security personnel in the Kastigarh area of Doda district.
PRO Defence Jammu Division, Lt Col SuneelBartwal told Rising Kashmir that a massive search operation is underway in Doda forests for 7th straight day.
“No fresh contact has been established with the hiding terrorists and technical equipment has been deployed to trace terrorists and monitor the search operation,” he said.
On July 11, four Army soldiers of Rashtriya Rifles including a Major-rank officer succumbed to their injuries after an encounter with terrorists in Desa forests.
