Jammu, Dec 24: The Army on Sunday paid rich tributes to the martyred soldiers who were killed on Thursday after two Army vehicles were ambushed by heavily armed terrorists in Surankote area near Poonch district.
A wreath laying ceremony was held on Sunday to bid an emotional adieu to four slain bravehearts.
“A wreath laying ceremony for paying tributes to the fallen brave hearts was held at Army unit in Rajouri today”, “Jammu based Defence PRO, Suneel Bartwal said. He added, “The intense search operation to hunt down the terrorists is still going on in the dense forests”.
General Officer Commanding (GoC) of Jammu-based White Knight Corps, Lt Gen Sandeep Jain, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Rajouri, Amritpal Singh and other officers and ranks of the Army also paid floral tributes to martyred Jawans.
The officials revealed that an intense search operation was underway and the mobile internet services remained suspended in both border districts of Rajouri and Poonch for the second consecutive day on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the martyred Army jawans have reached Jammu and will be sent to the native places of the slain soldiers on Monday morning.
The Army jawans who were martyred in the terrorist ambush have been identified as Naik Birender Singh (Army No: 409317AH), R/O Chamoli-Uttrakhand, Rifleman Goutam Kumar (Army No: 15513547W), R/O Gharwal-Uttrakhand, Naik Karan Kumar (Army No: 14864935Y), R/O Kanpur-UP and Rifleman Chandan Kumar (army No: 15518253M), R/O Nawada-Bihar.
