Over the past two months, Jammu region has witnessed multiple terrorists attacks in which more than 12 soldiers have been killed.
The incident has taken place two days after Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired high level security review meeting in Jammu and directed security agencies to strengthen the security grid to ensure zero cross-border infiltration in the region.
The meeting was attended by Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi; DG BSF Nitin Agrawal, DG CRPF, DGP J&K, Heads of Intelligence Agencies and other senior officials of army, CAPFs and J&K Police attended the meeting.
Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi also reviewed the security situation at a meeting in Jammu amidst growing terror activities in parts of Jammu region.
Meanwhile, a massive search operation continued on Sunday against holed-up terrorists who fired on a school building and injured two security personnel in the Kastigarh area of Doda district.
On July 11, four Army soldiers of Rashtriya Rifles including a Major-rank officer succumbed to their injuries after an encounter with terrorists in Desa forests.
Doda district, which was cleared of terrorism in 2005, has seen a rise in attacks since June 12.
