Army Chief reviews operational preparedness along Jmu LoC

Srinagar, July 03: Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi Tuesday reviewed the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu region. Gen Dwivedi exhorted troops to remain steadfast to meet all security challenges, officials said.
This was his first visit to the Jammu region since assuming the role of the 30th Chief of the Indian Army on June 30.
In a post on ‘X’, Indian Army Spokesman said Chief of Army Staff Dwivedi, along with Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Suchindra Kumar and General Officer Commanding of Jammu-based White Knight Corps Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva, visited forward locations of the ‘XVI Corps’, as known as the White Knight Corps, to review the security situation along the LoC.
He also visited the forward locations of White Knight Corps & reviewed the security situation along the Line of Control LOC.
The spokesman said that COAS was briefed on the operational preparedness by the Commanders on ground. COAS lauded all ranks for maintaining high standards of professionalism & exhorted them to remain steadfast to meet all current & emerging security challenges,” he said.
The spokesman said General Upendra Dwivedi also interacted with the parents of brave hearts of Poonch region who laid down their lives in the service of the Nation.
“COAS also met the Veterans & assured them of unwavering support from the Indian Army. He also interacted with officials of Jammu and Kashmir Police and prominent civil dignitaries.
The Army Chief also appreciated their synergy and cooperation with the Indian Army in maintaining peace & harmony in the region. He also interacted with troops and encouraged them.
Earlier, the officials said, the Army chief chaired a meeting of field commanders on reaching Poonch before leaving for the forward areas.
Gen Dwivedi, who served as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command from 2022 to 2024. It was also significant given the ongoing Amarnath Yatra and the extensive anti-terror operations currently underway, especially in the hilly districts.
This visit is crucial in the context of efforts to counter attempts by terror handlers to expand their activities in the Jammu region. In the recent two months, Jammu witnessed multiple terror attacks across many districts.
