Army Chief applauds troops’ anti-infiltration measures on LoC

Srinagar, July 15: Army Chief General Manoj Pande on Saturday visited the forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir to review the operational preparedness, officials said.
Army spokesman said that General Pande visited forward areas along the Line of Control to review the operational preparedness.
He was briefed by commanders on ground about the anti-infiltration grid and robust posture to maintain the sanctity of Line of Control.
General also interacted with troops deployed in the forward areas and lauded them for their continuous vigil and high morale. COAS also exhorted them to keep working with same zeal and enthusiasm, the spokesman said.
On Friday, General Pande COAS called on the Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha and discussed various aspects related to the security situation and development initiatives in the Union Territory.
The Army Chief General’s visit along the LoC comes after 8-10 infiltrations bids have been foiled by security forces so far this year and in which more than 16 terrorists have been killed in multiple sectors along the LoC.
Earlier on July 11, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Srinagar-based 15 Corps, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai reviewed the Anti-Infiltration & Counter-infiltration grid along LoCin north Kashmir.
He visited frontline troops at Machhal sector in Kupwara and Rampur Baramulla to review the Anti-Infiltration and CT Grid along LoC.
A high rank Army officer told Rising Kashmir that as ceasefire continues in place but there has been a surge in infiltration attempts this year and the trend continued in July.
“Three infiltration bids have taken place along the LoC in Kashmir and Jammu divisions during this month, he said.
“The troops while foiling these 8 infiltration bids killed 16 terrorists — 12 in Kashmir and 4 in Poonch, Rajouri sectors,” he said.
The officer further said that a large cache of arms and ammunition including assault rifles, pistols, IEDs and narcotics were recovered by troops from possession of the slain terrorists.
