All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee on Friday expressed concern over the absence of Sikh members in autonomous bodies like the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and Services Selection Board (SSB). The party has impressed upon Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to appoint honest and upright Sikh officers to such positions.
In a statement, APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said, “There is no let up in discrimination against the Sikh community and the same gets proved by the absence of community members as members of autonomous bodies. There are many honest and upright Sikh officers who can be appointed as members of J&K PSC and SSB.”
“Over the past seven decades or so the Sikhs of Jammu & Kashmir have been discriminated at each and every sphere of life. The successive governments in the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir have meted out injustice to the Sikh community and the present dispensation is no different,” he added.
Raina said it is the responsibility of LG Manoj Sinha to ensure that Sikhs are given due representation in the autonomous bodies of Jammu & Kashmir. He lamented that no specific employment package has been announced for the Sikh community in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
