Srinagar, 12 Nov: The Chief Medical officer (CMO) Srinagar on Saturday in a notification said that those applying for the purpose of issuance of the Age Certificates, can apply through online mode for registration.

In a notification issued by the Chief Medical officer (CMO) Srinagar, he said, “In view of recent orders/ guidelines from the higher authorities with regard to issuance if age certificates, it is hereby notified for information of the general public that for the purpose of issuance of age certificate they will apply through online mode for registration of themselves on website viz eservices.jk.gov.in and obtaining of said certificate”.

Pertinent to mention that in Srinagar over the past few days elderly people were seen waiting outside a health facility at Jawahar Nagar in long queues to get their age certificates from the health authorities.

However, the move drew severe criticism on social media by questioning why only centre has been set up for Srinagar for issuing the age certificates.
Noted Journalist Ahamd Ali Fayyaz while taking on to his Twitter handle wrote, “J&K Govt’s @socialwelfarejk is within its right to verify documents of old age pensioners but setting up only one centre for Srinagar district at Jawahar Nagar & forcing 1000s of 80-90 year old women’s multiple visits & staying in line for whole day under open sky is inhuman.”

In another tweet he wrote, “@socialwelfarejk officials should go door to door for physical verification of their residences/documents or set up verification centres at all tehsil or block headquarters. @DivisionalComm1 & @srinagaradmin should visit to see the plight of 80-90 yr old women in the queue for hours”.

Notably, the district administration of Srinagar in a responsive tweet on their official Twitter handle shared the notification issued by the Chief Medical officer (CMO) of Srinagar on Saturday.

Meanwhile, an official from the health department told Rising Kashmir that the online process will start in the next few days as they are yet to receive the necessary login ids from the concerned department.
