Budgam, July 19: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party leadership on Wednesday held an important block meeting in Block Pakherpora of Charar-i-Sharief Constituency in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
The prominent leaders who were present at the meeting included the party’s provincial president Mohammad Ashraf Mir, state secretary & district president Budgam Muntazir Mohi-ud-Din, district president Srinagar Noor Mohammad Sheikh and in-charge Charar-i-Sharief Constituency Mushtaq Zuhami, the party said in a statement.
“The meeting proved to be an opportunity to address various public concerns, with the party leadership assuring the attendees that these pertinent issues would be given top priority and duly taken up with the concerned authorities,” the statements said, adding, “Mohammad Ashraf Mir expressed his disappointment over the neglect and suffering endured by the locals of this area under previous government administrations, who prioritized their own interests over the needs of the people.”
Mir said that residents of the area demanded the establishment of a Degree College to provide quality education to the students without requiring them to travel to far-flung areas. “They highlighted the urgent requirement for a fully equipped hospital in the vicinity, considering its remoteness from the nearest healthcare facility. The patients of this area have been grappling with immense difficulties, having to travel to the main district town for better treatment facilities,” he said.
I urge the government to address this pressing concern and ensure that the locals face no obstacles in accessing medical facilities, especially during emergencies, Mir added.
In addition to addressing public concerns, the meeting also focused on preparations for the upcoming panchayat and municipal elections specific to the Charar-e-Sharief constituency.
“Detailed discussions were held regarding the mobilization of public outreach programs to raise awareness among the people about the Apni Party’s agenda, which revolves around the betterment of the general public,” he said.
“In the end of the meeting, the members of Charar-e-Sharief constituency unanimously pledged to strengthen the party’s position and carry out door-to-door campaigns to garner support for both the party and its prospective candidates in the Panchayat and Urban Local Body (ULB) elections,” the Apni Party said.
