Srinagar, July 08: Apni Party on Saturday expressed its gratitude to Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha for announcing the provision of an additional 10 kg of ration at subsidised rates to over 57 lakh priority households in Jammu and Kashmir. The party attributed this achievement to its persistent advocacy and a series of district-level protests.
According to a statement issued here, Apni Party commended the decision as a significant step towards alleviating food insecurity and ensuring the well-being of vulnerable sections of society. “The provision of extra rations will undoubtedly alleviate the burden on struggling households and contribute to their overall welfare,” the party said. It appreciated LG’s prompt response to their demand and acknowledges his commitment to addressing the concerns of the people.
“Apni party emphasises that this development showcases the effectiveness of peaceful advocacy and constructive engagement in bringing about positive change,” the statement reads. “Apni Party reiterated its aim to continue efforts to highlight the various socio-economic challenges faced by the people in J&K.”
Pertinently, the Apni Party recently held a series of district-level protests, demanding a sufficient quantity of subsidised rations for consumers and the provision of all basic amenities for the people across Jammu and Kashmir.
It is worth mentioning that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced 10 kg of additional ration at subsidised rates for priority households in the Union Territory under the Prime Minister’s Food Supplementation Scheme for priority households.
