Samba, Apr 03: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu and former minister S. Manjit Singh on Wednesday demanded tehsil status to Parmandal Block of district Samba.
As per a press release, a meeting was organised at Nagrota (Uttarbehni) in Parmandal to discuss problems being faced by the people regarding development and other related issues.
In his address, Manjit said that the people are concerned about their long travel to Vijaypur and Bari Brahmana regarding revenue or other certificate-related works.
He said that the people suffer because of the entire day for their lesser work, and it further delays the work that requires immediate attention from the authorities.
“The people of Nagrota have to go to Naib Tehsildar’s office at Parmandal and then to the Tehsil office at Bari Brahmana. If the issue pertains to the Sub Divisional Office (SDM), they go to Vijaypur from Parmandal for minor work at the SDM office that makes travel of over 40 km a day,” he said while citing the difficulties faced by the people.
In these circumstances, Singh said that it becomes imperative for the Govt to give the status of Tehsil to Parmandal Block for the welfare of its residents. He said the granting of Tehsil status would help in the timely disposal of grievances and other related issues at Parmandal.
Other issues of development were also discussed by the Apni Party leaders. After listening to their grievances, Manjit assured that he would highlight their issues with the concerned authorities.
