Samba, July 22: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and former minister, S Manjit Singh on Monday expressed concern over “excessive” bills to the power consumers and constant unscheduled power cuts in Bari Brahmana that he said have adversely impacted the normal life of the people in the district.
As per a press release, a meeting was organised at ward number 13 to discuss the development and other issues related to the general masses. During the meeting, the people expressed their concern regarding the underdevelopment, bad condition of roads, and poor basic amenities provided by the authorities.
Extending his support to the people, the former minister said power cuts have continued and there is no respite from the scorching heat across the plains of the Jammu region.
“The JPDCL claimed that the people would get 24/7 electricity in metered areas, but the power supply is being disrupted for hours together. The people are being put to hardship in the summer season, and on the other hand, they are charged heavily regarding the electricity bills,” he said.
Singh said that the JPDCL officials do not check the ground situation and send excessive electricity bills to the power consumers which has caused widespread anger among the people. “The people are not getting adequate power supply, but they get huge electricity bills. However, the JPDCL has not responded to the claims of the power consumers to address the growing concerns of the people,” he said, condemning the unscheduled power cuts.
Meanwhile, the Apni Party leader expressed concern over the drinking water supply issue and poor basic amenities.
