Jammu, May 10: Apni Party president Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari on Wednesday said his party is committed to the social, educational and political empowerment of women in Jammu 7 Kashmir.
“Women empowerment is our top priority. They are a major section of society that remained neglected for decades. Apni Party has provided ample space and representation to the women to highlight their issues and get them redressed from the platform of this party,” Bukhari said at Apni Party Jammu Headquarters here.
On the occasion, dozens of women from the Samba district joined the party in the presence of Altaf Bukhari, a party statement issued here said.
While welcoming the new entrants, the Apni Party president expressed hope that their joining would strengthen the party at the grassroots level. He congratulated the women’s wing of the Jammu province for their teamwork and asked them to work at the ground level among the women in every nook and corner of the province to address the issues being confronted by the women.
“Women have played a very important role in every field. However, we think that they need social, educational, and political empowerment in J&K and their empowerment will help them to upgrade their living standard,” he said, adding, “Apni Party believes in equality in society. Therefore, we have decided to enhance the marriage assistance of the poor girls at the time of their marriage up to 1 lakh, and this amount would be released within 1 month of their marriage.”
Bukhari said the widow pension scheme/old age pension/handicapped would be increased up to Rs 5000 per month from Rs 1000, and four free cooking gas cylinders per year to the poor families if the Apni Party forms the next government. He also highlighted various other social security schemes which would be launched by the party if it forms the government in J&K.
Meanwhile, he announced the district team of the women’s wing for Samba. The newly-nominated members include Prinyanka Mangotra as District President Samba, Kamlesh Kumar and Parmjeet Kour as District Vice Presidents of Samba District, the statement said.
