Srinagar, Apr 22: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party President Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari on Monday said they will support the People’s Conference President Sajad Lone in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections for the Baramulla constituency in north Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference here, Bukhari said while his party has put forward candidates for the Srinagar and Anantnag-Rajouri constituencies, they will support PC in north Kashmir.
“Apni Party’s support will significantly boost Sajad Lone’s chances, given the influence of several party leaders in the assembly segments of north Kashmir’s Lok Sabha seat,” he said.
Bukhari further said the Apni Party emerged when people were yearning for political representation and has since represented their aspirations. “Apni Party came into existence four years ago, and it is due to our pro-people politics that other political parties are now reposing trust in us and seeking our support,” he added.
He criticised regional political parties like NC and PDP, accusing them of misleading Kashmiri people for the past 70 years and exploiting youth with empty promises.
The Baramulla Lok Sabha seat is spread over 18 assembly segments and is going to be one of the most interesting contests to watch as the electoral dynamics in the constituency have changed after delimitation.
Meanwhile, People’s Conference President Sajad Lone conveyed his sincere gratitude to Apni Party leadership, especially its President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, for extending their support to JKPC in Baramulla Parliamentary constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Lone in a statement said that after requesting the Apni Party’s support, their positive response has been “very warming”.
“I express my sincere gratitude to Syed Altaf Bukhari and leaders of the Apni Party for extending support to our party in the Baramulla Parliamentary constituency, in response to our request for support,” Lone remarked.
He extended his best wishes to the Apni Party and People’s Conference leaders for the forthcoming electoral contests.
