They said that residents, whose land has been acquired for the construction of the bypass, are furious as they are being offered inadequate compensation for their land.
“For the construction of the bypass road from Hayan to Gugloosa, the administration has fixed the compensation at Rs 5.5 lakh per kanal, whereas, for the same road, compensation to the landowners in Kupwara has been sanctioned at the rate of Rs 18 lakh per kanal,” the delegation said.
They added, “People, who stand to lose their land due to this project, have been demanding a revision of the compensation amount before the disbursement, and before the work begins on the ground.”
Altaf Bukhari gave a patient hearing to the visiting delegation and assured them that he would bring their concerns to the notice of the concerned officials for prompt redressal. On this occasion, Dr Shah also briefed the party president on certain party matters.
