Srinagar, Dec 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday stated that the situation in Kashmir is largely peaceful and reiterated that the anti-terrorist operations will continue till the entire terror ecosystem is dismantled in the UT.
The statement comes days after five terrorists including a senior HM Commander were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kulgam district of South Kashmir.
A senior police officer told Rising Kashmir that some terrorist modules are active to sustain the terrorism in Kashmir as the majority of outfits have been wiped out from the region. There will be no let-up in terror operations and inputs are being quickly enforced and remaining terrorists will be killed very soon, he added.
The officer said the number of local terrorists in Kashmir has been brought down to two digits while few foreign terrorists were active in the valley while they are also being tracked down. The joint team of forces is achieving tremendous success in eliminating terrorists in clean sweep operations without any collateral damage to the forces.
“Anti-terrorist operations are going on and very soon the remaining terrorists will be eliminated as well. I hope that peace will prevail in the entire Kashmir,” he said
The officer said that efforts are being made to stamp out terrorist infrastructure. Cracking down on terrorist operatives and their infrastructure remains a priority,” he said.
“Asserting that action against terrorists operating from Pakistan and PoK is underway. We have attached dozens of properties operating from Pakistan and PoK (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir). Cases related to terrorist attacks are under investigation,” the police official said.
Pertinent to mention here, on Thursday, the longest surviving Hizbul Mujahideen commander was among five terrorists killed during an encounter with security forces in Kader area of Kulgam district in South Kashmir. Two soldiers were also injured during the operation.
