Baramulla, July 18: Amid growing concerns over women’s safety and rising incidents of eve-teasing and anti-social activities,police have taken a proactive step by establishing an ‘anti-eve teasing squad’ in Baramulla town.
A police official said that the primary objective of this squad is to create a secure environment for female citizens and take swift action against offenders engaging in any form of harassment or violence.
“The anti-eve teasing squad will be stationed outside the Government Degree College for Women and the Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Baramulla,” he said.
Police said that female citizens are encouraged to approach the squad for any issues they may face and report any crimes or violence against them.
“The squad members have been specially trained to handle such cases with sensitivity and efficiency,” he added.
The police official said to further ensure the safety of women in the region, the squad will conduct regular patrolling in areas that witness significant footfall of women, including educational institutions such as schools and colleges, as well as popular public places like shopping malls and market areas.
Emphasizing their commitment to women’s safety, Baramulla Police has urged female citizens to come forward with any grievances or concerns they may have.
