Significant pilgrim rurnout for AmarnathYatra reflects improved facilities
Anantnag, July 18 : In a profound display of devotion and cultural pride, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha joined the devotees in the MahaYagya organised by the TerathrajSidhlakshmiPeeth Trust, LokBhawan on AshadhShuklaPakshaDwadashi, praying for the well-being, peace, and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.
Amidst prayers and rituals, LG Sinha underscored the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s unwavering commitment to preserving and enhancing the region’s ancient spiritual sites. He called upon the community to join hands with the administration to protect these sacred spaces, ensuring their legacy endures for generations to come.
He highlighted the historical significance of the LokBhavanYatra, the sacred spring, and the temple of Mata Sidhlakshmi, noting that the tradition of organising Yagyas has existed in the Kashmir valley since Vedic times.
He noted the ancient glory of the LokBhavanYatra, the sacred spring, and the temple of Mata Siddhalakshmi. “If we look at the pages of history, it is true that the tradition of organizing Yagya has existed in the Kashmir valley since Vedic times,” he said.
LG said, “I believe that in these spiritual places, after a long period, the same ancient spring of spirituality and values has begun to flow again. And with the blessings of God, these centers of faith are being revived.”
The Lieutenant Governor also noted the administration’s efforts to improve facilities for pilgrims at holy sites, citing a significant increase in the number of devotees at the Mata KheerBhawaniMela compared to the previous year. He mentioned the smooth progress of the ongoingAmarnathYatra, which has seen approximately 3.5 lakh pilgrims in the past 18-19 days.
In his remarks, LG Sinha acknowledged those who have contributed to preserving these sacred sites and reiterated the government’s dedication to revitalizing their cultural values. He also mentioned ongoing efforts to revive the sacred places of ShardaPeeth, ensuring their safety for future generations.
LG Sinha was accompanied by DIG South Kashmir JavaidIqbal, Deputy Commissioner AnantnagSyeedFakhrudin Hamid, SSP Anantnag, members of the TerathrajSidhlakshmiPeeth Trust, and a large number of devotees.
