Srinagar, May 07: Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference organised a public gathering at Gund Hassi Bhat, Lavaypora, Srinagar, which was attended by scores of locals and party affiliates to champion the cause of INDIA alliance candidates of the National Conference across the valley, the party said on Tuesday.
The event, presided over by ANC Senior Vice President Muzzaffar Shah, saw dynamic addresses from eminent figures including former Speaker of the Assembly and MLA Eidgah Mubarak Gul and Congress Leader Abdul Gani Khan, who captivated the audience with their impassioned speeches, the ANC said in a statement issued here.
In their addresses, Muzzafar Shah, Mubarak Gul and Abdul Gani Khan urged the people to deliver a resounding message to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies by ensuring the success of INDIA alliance candidates.
“Each vote cast is a powerful declaration against the abrogation of Article 370 on August 05, 2019, and a testament to the unwavering resilience of J&K’s local populace. Our votes are messages that will reach the highest echelons, indicating our steadfast belief and ongoing fight for our special rights,” Shah asserted. “Through grassroots mobilization and unwavering solidarity, we aim to usher in an era where divisive politics is relegated to the past.”
Despite being organised on short notice, Shah announced plans for similar events across the length and breadth of the valley, with the ultimate goal of securing a resounding victory for INDIA Alliance candidates.
Among the distinguished dignitaries gracing the occasion were Mir Rouvis, General Secretary of Congress; Muzzafar Shah, ANC Senior Vice President; Mir Mohammad Shafi, General Secretary; Abdul Rashid Wani, Senior Vice President & Former MLC; Lateef Ahmad Khan, Vice President; Nazir Ahmad Pandit, Vice President; Mohammad Sultan Bhat, Treasurer; Aftab Ahmad Lavay, Zonal President Central Kashmir; Sajad Ah Kenroo, District President Anantnag; Gulzar Ah Nengroo, District President Shopian; Shabir Ab Mir, District President Ganderbal; Bashir Ahmad Naikoo, District President Pulwama; Syed Murtaza, District President Baramulla; and Masarat Qadri, Vice President of the women’s wing of ANC. The event was gracefully hosted by Rahi Riaz Ahmad, Provincial President of ANC.
The palpable sense of hope and determination among the locals was evident as they rallied behind ANC and INDIA Alliance candidate from Srinagar, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, with spirited slogans and fervent support, the statement said.
