Anantnag, May 29: The counting of votes for the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary constituency (PC) will take place at two locations: for 11 assembly segments of Kulgam, Anantnag districts, and the Zainapora assembly segment at Anantnag College; and for seven assembly constituencies of Poonch and Rajouri at Government College Rajouri.
The Returning Officer (RO) of Anantnag-Rajouri PC visited Rajouri on Wednesday and held a meeting with the Rajouri team regarding the counting arrangements.
Later, the RO, while briefing the media, said that the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary constituency is spread over a vast area. Considering the logistics and terrain, the counting will take place at two locations. He said that they have conducted a meeting with political parties in Rajouri and Anantnag, apprising them about counting agents, the issuance of passes, the creation of ID cards for that day, and other matters related to result declaration.
“The visit to Rajouri today aimed to address how we will synchronize the round-wise consolidation of figures and votes for seven assembly constituencies in Rajouri and 11 assembly segments in Anantnag during result declaration. My technical team and the technical team of Rajouri were present to further coordinate and provide real-time information to the candidates and the general public on counting day,” he said.
He added that the people of the constituency, including voters, candidates, their agents, and all other staff, deserve applause for ensuring a hassle-free, peaceful, and record-breaking turnout across the whole constituency, which indicates a deep relationship with the constitution.
“The overall arrangements, including the setup of control rooms in Anantnag and Rajouri by the respective DCs, have been made under the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI). Detailed SOPs have been followed for three-tier security, entry and exit, counting agents, and the setup of tables inside the centers,” he said.
Om PrakashBhagat, District Election Officer (DEO) Rajouri, said that two counting centers have been established for the RajouriAnantnag Parliamentary constituency: one in Anantnag and the other in Rajouri.
“In Rajouri, the counting will take place at Government Degree College Rajouri, a three-storied building that will serve as the counting center for seven assembly constituencies, including four from Rajouri and three from Poonch,” he said.
For security arrangements, there is a three-tier security system in place, including CAPF, armed police, and district police personnel. As per ECI protocol, the necessary security measures are in place,” he added.
He said that the Returning Officer (RO), SyeedFakhrudin Hamid, visited the counting center on Wednesday and expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements.
We have received many positive messages regarding the peaceful elections. We extend our wishes to the people of Rajouri, Poonch, and the entire constituency, as well as to the voters who stood in long queues despite hot temperatures and participated well, leading to an increased turnout,” he said.
